Confirm Ticket Cancel Charge

IRCTC, or the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation, handles the Indian Railways' ticketing operations exclusively.

E-tickets can be conveniently purchased through two platforms: https://www.irctc.co.in/railconnect/app/iRCTC, which is available on both the Play Store and App Store.

The following is a schedule and summary of fees associated with IRCTC e-ticket cancellations, as mentioned on the IRCTC website:

IRCTC will issue refunds for cancelled Indian Railways e-tickets classified into two distinct categories.

The first category is

  • Before Preparation of Charts,
  • After Preparation of Charts

IRCTC shall process the refund for both categories, less any applicable fees, within a timeframe of 5 to 7 working days, depending upon the payment method.

Cancelling an IRCTC e-ticket before chart preparation

Cancellation of e-tickets purchased through the IRCTC website or app is exclusively possible online and not offline.

"E-tickets may be cancelled online through this website before the train's chart preparation." "Directly, railway counters do not permit cancellations," the IRCTC stated on their website's support page.

Railways prepare the charts a few hours prior to the train's departure. Determining the exact time at which a chart for a particular train would be prepared is challenging; therefore, only a rough estimate can be used.

IRCTC shall send an SMS notification to recipients once the chart has been generated.

"Chart preparation for trains departing before noon is typically completed the evening before," the IRCTC stated on its website.

Initiating the cancellation process is possible through the IRCTC app or website.

Step 1: Navigate to the IRCTC website at www.irctc.co.in and enter your login information.

Step 2: Proceed to the 'Booked Tickets' tab and choose the tickets for the particular train that you wish to cancel.

After being chosen, verify it. Therefore, the reservations would be cancelled.
